City Works

Proposing Solutions to Win Projects

Challenge:

City Works, is developing and providing advisory tools for better implementation of international agendas at a local level. For now, the platform is not interactive, and is simply a resource that indexes information and workshops. Their goal is to integrate these resources into one application that can be used virtually and remotely by its users.

Approach

In order to create a proposal for this work, I leveraged existing research from similar projects and followed a scaled down process similar to my other case studies. I was also provided with links to the existing resources and tools that will be included in the actual project, and was able to meet with the client to determine the scope and goals.

I created a user flow similar to a previous project and considered how to better visualize selectable options for clarity of use. Then, I designed screens for 2 phases as a sample of the work to be done. My team will develop high fidelity prototypes of these to present to the potential client. I had data from another project that showed a higher user satisfaction by having everything displayed in one spot and increasing the menu as the user selects things. If we win the work, I will test this approach for this specific project.

Result

The Resilience & Green Recovery tool has been developed for City WORKS Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, it allows governments and organizations to develop actions and strategies that address both the immediate socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 and long-term global resilience and climate change objectives.

The tool can be tried out here.
